Referee from West Java, Budi Marfan, has made history in the Indonesian Basketball League (IBL). Budi was crowned IBL Referee of The Year 2026, and became the first on-court official to win the award for three consecutive seasons.

IBL CEO Junas Miradiarsyah confirmed that Budi Marfan collected the highest support in the IBL Awards 2026 voting. ‘He (Budi Marfan) earned the highest points from voters,’ Junas said when contacted in Jakarta on Saturday, 23 May.

According to the final voting results, Budi Marfan accumulated a total of 151 points with eight first-place votes. He edged out Arnaz Anggoro, a referee from East Java, who trailed in second place with 125 points and six first-place votes.

Interestingly, there were differences in preferences among voter groups; however, the final point total still placed Budi at the top, followed by other candidates such as Rendi Dwiantino (115 points), Yosep Norida (99 points), and Rendra Lesmana (53 points).

This title is a special achievement because no referee in IBL history has managed to defend the top status for three consecutive seasons. Budi Marfan’s success was based on consistent on-court performance throughout the regular season.

With the dedication and integrity demonstrated, Budi Marfan has proven himself as the most competent on-court official in Indonesia’s professional basketball landscape today.
