Budi Luhur University Opens Door for Investigation into Alleged Sexual Harassment of Female Student
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Universitas Budi Luhur (UBL) is opening the possibility for an investigation into the case of alleged sexual harassment committed by a lecturer against one of its students. UBL Rector Agus Setyo Budi conveyed this through Decree Number K/UBL/REK/000/006/02/26 dated 27 February 2026. Agus stated that the investigation would be conducted independently without interference. This further investigation is potentially to be carried out because the evidence and witnesses presented by the victim, A, are deemed not strong enough to prove the alleged criminal act of sexual violence (TPKS). This assessment refers to the results of the investigation by the Higher Education Violence Prevention and Handling Team (PPKPT). The victim’s legal representative, Pahala Manurung, said that his client had also been proposed to by the perpetrator. In addition, the perpetrator is said to have touched the victim’s body under her clothing, which subsequently caused trauma. The victim is known to have harboured this trauma for years because she feared her studies would be disrupted if she reported it at the time. After the victim reported the incident, the campus imposed a six-month suspension on the alleged perpetrator. However, in its implementation, the perpetrator is said to have continued activities in the campus environment even though the sanction period had not yet ended.
