Budi Luhur University Dismisses Lecturer Accused of Harassing Former Student

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Universitas Budi Luhur has dismissed a lecturer with the initials Y (48) who is alleged to have harassed a former student with the initials A on Wednesday (15/4/2026). This action was formalised in the Decree of the Budi Luhur Cakti Foundation No. K/YBLC/KET/000/102/04/26 regarding Termination of Employment. “In responding to and addressing the developments in the case, Universitas Budi Luhur and the Budi Luhur Cakti Foundation have taken firm steps against the suspect,” said UBL Rector Agus Setyo Budi in a written statement received by Kompas.com on Thursday (16/4/2026). “We are committed to always standing by the victim’s side and have followed up on the report provided,” Agus added. Before being dismissed as an educator, Y was first suspended for one semester or six months starting from 27 February. He was then removed from his position as Head of the Centre for the Development of Nobility on 24 February 2026 and from his role as Director of Promotion and New Student Admissions on 8 April 2026. The lecturer Y has promised to cooperate in the investigation regarding the report of alleged sexual harassment filed by his former student, A. Y will provide a statement if summoned by Polda Metro Jaya. He claims he never did the things alleged. “Of course (I will attend if called by the police), because that is a means for me to present (my side of the story),” Y said when met in the Pesanggrahan area, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (15/4/2026). He plans to bring several electronic documents in the form of screenshots that were previously submitted to the UBL PKKPT Task Force during the internal campus investigation. Previously, a woman with the initials A claimed to have been a victim of harassment by a lecturer at her campus in 2021. A, who has now graduated, was previously a student at Universitas Budi Luhur, Petukangan, South Jakarta. The victim’s legal representative, Pahala, stated that the form of harassment experienced by A was mostly verbal, such as repeated marriage proposals conveyed by the alleged perpetrator with the initials Y.
