Budget Savings: TTU Regent Limits Official Travel Time to a Maximum of 2 Days
The Regent of North Central Timor (TTU), Yosep Falentinus Delasalle Kebo, has limited the duration of official travel for every official to a maximum of two days. This restriction on official travel time is aimed at saving the budget.
“For inter-district travel on mainland Timor, for example. Previously, trips just to Atambua could last up to three days, so we have limited it. To Atambua or Soe now, the maximum is two days, the quickest is one day round trip,” explained Falen in a WhatsApp message on Tuesday (31/3/2026).
“So, local official travel is prohibited from being too long. If it can be quick, why make it long? To Kupang, three days is still allowed. However, outside the region is not prohibited, it depends on needs, tentative in nature, it can be quicker or longer,” clarified Falen.
According to Falen, official travel in the region previously reached three days. As a result, Falen conducted an evaluation and set the official travel time within the region to a maximum of two days. “This evaluation is not because of efficiency, but because we evaluate what needs to be improved, we regulate it,” he said.
The retired Indonesian National Army (TNI) personnel also emphasised that every activity in the TTU Regency Government (Pemkab) will be evaluated. The policy on official travel time is one of them.
Although there is a restriction, Falen emphasised that there are no sanctions for violators. However, if there is a travel request that does not comply with the provisions, it will be directly rejected.
“Clearly, to travel, one must submit an official travel letter. If it is found to be more than two days and not urgent, we will reject it directly. So, before travelling, approval from the regional government is mandatory,” explained Falen.
