Budget Efficiency: Serang City Government Utilises CSR for Road Repairs
The Serang City Government has acknowledged budget efficiency measures for 2026 and is turning to corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds from companies to build and repair roads. “When the APBD is limited and requires efficiency, this is my effort to lobby companies investing in Serang City for the region’s progress,” said Mayor Budi Rustandi on Wednesday (17/6/2026). One project utilising CSR funds is the construction of Jalan Kenari in Serang City, spanning 517 metres, which he stated was fully financed by PT Sauh Bahtera Sejahtera without any involvement of the regional budget. He confirmed that the Jalan Kenari development will not stop at this point, with the city government preparing to continue construction up to Jalan Raya Kasemen, budgeted in the 2027 APBD. “Insyaallah, the remaining section from the bridge point to Jalan Raya Kasemen will be built by the City Government in 2027,” he said. “Our budget capacity in 2027, God willing, will be sufficient. To the community members not yet accommodated, we ask for your patience.” According to Budi, the city government is now prioritising concrete paving over hotmix as it is deemed more durable. This ensures the road remains sturdy even when traversed by heavy-tonnage vehicles or agricultural machinery. “This concrete paving approach is an effort to prevent the road from deteriorating quickly. So our progress is concrete paving, not just hotmix. Hotmix is only used for urgent or emergency repairs,” he explained.
