Budget Efficiency: BGN to Sharpen Targeting of Free Nutritious Meal Beneficiaries
Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Nanik S. Deyang, has revealed that the agency will improve the distribution of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme by sharpening the targeting of beneficiaries. In other words, beneficiaries deemed ineligible will not receive MBG portions. "For example, the children of wealthy people. The rich ones. (Refocusing beneficiaries?) Yes, correct," she told reporters at the Presidential Palace following a meeting with President Prabowo Subianto on Thursday (11/6). Nanik stated that sharpening the targeting of MBG programme beneficiaries is also one of the budget efficiency efforts that has been launched. However, she was not yet willing to provide further details regarding how much budget could be saved or what other policies will be adopted. "This hasn’t been finalised yet, it will only be discussed tomorrow. Tomorrow afternoon, they say, tomorrow afternoon," Nanik asserted.
