Buddhists urged to champion peace and harmony

Magelang - Director General of Buddhist Affairs at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Supriyadi, stated that Buddhists are urged to be pioneers of peace by maintaining harmony, cultivating inner peace, and bringing tranquility in a diverse society.
He said in Magelang on Sunday that Buddhist teachings state happiness is achieved when humans live without enmity even in environments marked by conflict and differences.
The message was delivered during the Vesak 2570 BE/2026 celebrations held at Borobudur Temple in Magelang Regency.

He also urged Buddhists to be moderate, maintain mental stability, and have a firm attitude in facing life’s dynamics.
He noted that with calmness and wisdom, Buddhists are expected to be an oasis of peace for their surroundings and actively strengthen social harmony.
Through the spirit of Vesak, he said values of love, tolerance, and peace should be nurtured so Buddhists can become pioneers in creating a peaceful, harmonious society.
