BTW 2026 Strengthens Digital Ecosystem Collaboration and Opens Up Investment Access
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Initiated by the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, Bali Tech Week (BTW) 2026 strengthened confidence in Indonesia’s digital ecosystem through collaboration that opened up investment opportunities, access to global markets and artificial intelligence (AI) development, while also reinforcing policy dialogue across ASEAN.
BTW 2026 was held from 19 to 23 October 2026 at the Bali Beach Convention Centre in Sanur, bringing together government, industry, start-ups, investors, academics and communities from Indonesia and other countries.
Communications and Digital Affairs Minister Meutya Hafid stressed that connectivity must generate growth while protecting the public and providing certainty for businesses.
“There is no economic growth worth pursuing without safeguards. Ultimately, innovation must be able to protect the public and businesses by providing regulatory certainty,” Meutya said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.
BTW 2026 facilitated business matchmaking through the HUB.ID Global Summit and the Indonesia Game Developer Exchange (IGDX), bringing together hundreds of start-ups, investors and corporations from dozens of countries. Endeavor Indonesia’s Access to Market Tour also expanded networks among entrepreneurs from South-east Asia, Saudi Arabia and Brazil.
In the technology sector, GoTo launched an open-source large language model (LLM) trained specifically to understand Indonesian and several regional languages. The AI model, with 27 billion parameters, is freely available to researchers and the public. Telkomsel also showcased nine locally developed AI products, including a fraud-detection system and a virtual assistant.
Communications and Digital Affairs Ministry Director-General of the Digital Ecosystem Edwin Hidayat Abdullah said the event marked an important milestone in collaboration to strengthen Indonesia’s digital ecosystem.
“Through the HUB.ID Global Summit, this collaboration was translated into targeted business meetings, opening up access to funding, strategic partnerships and markets for Indonesian innovation,” he said.
Strategic discussions also addressed infrastructure resilience and the digital-asset ecosystem. Topics included distributing data centres more evenly, including in eastern Indonesia, protecting blockchain consumers and preparing for cybersecurity challenges.
At the close of the event, the ministry set four priority action items for after BTW 2026: mapping digital infrastructure, piloting technology adoption, strengthening AI talent and aligning regulations.
Deputy Communications and Digital Affairs Minister Nezar Patria stressed that the forum’s success would depend on implementing policies after BTW 2026.
“A good forum is not measured only by how lively the discussions are, but by what we do afterwards,” Nezar said.
