BTPN Syariah Wins 2026 Republika Sharia Award for Literacy and Inclusion
PT Bank BTPN Syariah Tbk has successfully secured the Excellence in Islamic Banking Literacy and Inclusion Award at the Anugability Syariah Republika (ASR) 2026. The award was presented during the Indonesia Sharia Forum (ISF) 2026 at Soehanna Hall, Energy Building, SCBD, Jakarta, on Wednesday (1/7/2026).
The award serves as appreciation for BTPN Syariah’s contribution to expanding Islamic banking literacy and inclusion in Indonesia. The ASR 2026 theme, ‘Sharia for All: Beyond Profit, Toward Purpose’, emphasises the importance of the Sharia economy providing societal benefits alongside driving business growth.
According to the Jury Board, BTPN Syariah has demonstrated extraordinary commitment to expanding Sharia financial literacy and inclusion through a business model focused on empowering productive underprivileged communities, specifically women. Beyond providing access to Sharia financing for segments that have historically been underserved, BTPN Syariah consistently integrates mentoring, education, and capacity building as part of a sustainable empowerment process. This approach ensures that Sharia financial services act not merely as financing instruments, but as tools to improve family welfare, strengthen community economic resilience, and encourage business independence.
Republika Editor-in-Chief, Andi Muhyiddin, stated that the theme was chosen to emphasise that Sharia principles prioritise a balance between business success, social responsibility, sustainability, and public welfare. “Anugerah Syariah Republika is a form of appreciation for the drivers who have proven that the Sharia economy can deliver real benefits to society and the national economy,” Andi said in Jakarta.
He added that through ASR, Republika aims to recognise institutions and individuals who not only achieve superior performance but also introduce innovation, expand inclusion, and contribute significantly to the development of Indonesia’s Sharia economic ecosystem.
The ASR 2026 judging process was supported by an independent jury team from Karim Consulting Indonesia. The event also featured a ‘Reader’s Choice’ category involving public participation via polling on Republika.co.id and social media from 15 May to 15 June 2026, which gathered 27,414 votes, an increase from the previous year.
Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, expressed his appreciation for Republika’s consistency in monitoring the development of the Sharia economy in Indonesia. He noted that the media plays a vital role in building traditions and strengthening the national Sharia economic ecosystem.
“I certainly appreciate the commitment of Republika and its group regarding the Sharia economy. Recently, Republika has been consistent in overseeing Sharia economic practices and building Sharia economic traditions. I hope Republika continues to provide enlightenment on Sharia economic practices and offers appreciation to Sharia economic entities,” said Dahnil.
He assessed that the greatest challenge for the Sharia economy today is maintaining public trust amidst the emergence of various deviations carried out under the guise of Sharia. Therefore, industry players must prioritise Sharia moral values in every business practice.
Republika hopes that Anugerah Syariah Republika 2026 will serve as an inspiration for all stakeholders to continue delivering innovation, expanding inclusion, and strengthening the Sharia economic ecosystem to provide real benefits to society. In line with the theme ‘Sharia for All: Beyond Profit, Toward Purpose’, the Sharia economy is expected to continue growing as a system that brings blessings, justice, and inclusive prosperity to all layers of society.
