BTN’s Balé App Surpasses 5 Million Users as Digital Transactions Surge 46%
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Just around a year and a half after its launch on 6 March 2025, Balé by BTN has surpassed 5,021,503 registered users. The milestone marks a significant step in the digital transformation of PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN), and reflects the growing shift by customers towards digital banking services.
The Balé by BTN user base grew by 51 per cent year on year. The increase in users was accompanied by a surge in transaction activity. By September 2026, the app had recorded 2.23 billion transactions, up 46 per cent year on year, with transaction value reaching Rp103.53 trillion, an increase of 44 per cent.
BTN President Director Nixon L.P. Napitupulu said that surpassing five million users was the result of the bank’s efforts over several years to modernise its services and strengthen its digital transaction business.
“Reaching five million users is something we can be proud of. In around a year and a half since its launch, Balé by BTN has become an important part of BTN’s modernisation. Going forward, we want it to become more personalised and to have distinctive qualities that set it apart from other digital services,” Nixon said.
Growth has been supported by the expansion of Balé by BTN’s functions. The app now offers more than 764 features, catering not only to basic banking needs but also to a range of customers’ everyday requirements.
Customers can use Balé by BTN for banking transactions, flight and hotel bookings, train and Whoosh tickets, mobile phone credit and data packages, shopping vouchers, tourism and event services, and various financing solutions. BTN has also developed Balé Properti to help people search for homes and access the home-financing process more easily.
Balé by BTN is therefore being developed not merely as a mobile banking app, but as a super app connecting customers’ financial, housing and lifestyle needs within a single digital ecosystem.
“Competition in digital services will continue to evolve, and features will become increasingly easy to copy. Balé by BTN therefore needs to offer a distinctive experience. We want it to be closer to customers’ needs and provide convenience that is genuinely relevant to their activities,” Nixon said.
Making a greater contribution to the business
Alongside growth in users and transactions, Balé by BTN is making an increasingly tangible contribution to the company’s business. By September 2026, savings funding raised through BTN’s digital ecosystem had increased by 30 per cent, while fee-based income had risen by 42 per cent year on year.
BTN is also extending the reach of its digital services through partnerships across a range of ecosystems, including merchants, education, transport, healthcare, tourism, property and other strategic partners. These collaborations bring BTN’s services closer to people’s everyday activities without requiring every interaction to take place at a branch.
Nixon said that, after achieving a larger user base, the next priority was to improve the quality of engagement so that Balé by BTN could deliver greater benefits to customers and support the bank’s business growth.
“Now that our user base has grown, the challenge is to make the best use of our users, transactions and ecosystem so that they bring increasing benefits to customers while contributing to BTN’s business growth,” Nixon said.
The growth of digital services has also been accompanied by stronger security measures. Nixon said the expansion of digital transactions needs to be supported by reliable technology and greater public understanding of transaction security.
“As digital services develop, security must be considered from the outset. The challenge of digital crime is not only about technology, but also about how people understand and use it. Security and customer education must therefore go hand in hand,” he said.
BTN will continue developing Balé by BTN as its primary digital service channel, with an increasingly personalised, relevant and integrated experience. With more than five million users and a growing ecosystem, the app is expected to further strengthen digital banking as a driver of BTN’s transformation and business growth.
