BTN Strengthens Partnership with North Maluku, Aims to Support Regional Digitalisation

PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN) is strengthening its strategic partnership with the North Maluku Provincial Government, driven by the region’s rapid economic growth fuelled by downstream industries and investment. BTN President Director Nixon LP Napitupulu stated that North Maluku has become one of the national economic growth engines. He said BTN wants to play a greater role, not only as a banking service provider but also as a partner in regional development. “Economic growth in the first quarter of 2026, which reached 19.64% year-on-year, and the record highest growth in Indonesia in 2025 of 34.17%, proves this region has extraordinary potential through downstream industries, mining, fisheries, and tourism,” Nixon said in an official statement on Wednesday (29/7/2026). The statement was made during Nixon’s working visit to North Maluku, where he was received by Governor Sherly Tjoanda and Deputy Governor Sarbin Sehe. According to Nixon, the high economic growth is changing the financial service needs of the government and the public. He said BTN is ready to support the digitalisation of local government financial management while strengthening the economic ecosystem in North Maluku. He also expressed appreciation for the trust given by the North Maluku Provincial Government, which has placed funds with BTN, noting that this serves as a foundation for expanding future cooperation. Referring to data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), North Maluku’s economy grew 19.64% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026, far above the national average. This growth was driven by the processing industry sector, which surged 37.09%, and investment reflected in Gross Fixed Capital Formation (PMTB), which grew 17.57%. Previously, in 2025, North Maluku recorded economic growth of 34.17%, the highest in Indonesia, with a Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices reaching Rp133.6 trillion. During the visit, BTN also distributed Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) assistance in the form of constructing 32 liveable houses in Sidangoli, South Jailolo District, West Halmahera Regency. North Maluku Governor Sherly Tjoanda appreciated BTN’s support, stating that providing liveable housing is an important foundation for improving the quality of life and building human resources in the region.
