Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN) is strengthening public services while supporting regional economic growth through an agreement with the North Tapanuli Regency Government (Pemkab Tapanuli Utara). The agreement, outlined in a memorandum of understanding (MoU), encompasses banking services with the North Tapanuli Regency Government, the BTN Solusi programme with Tarutung Regional General Hospital (RSUD Tarutung), and operational development with Perumda Mual Na Tio. “With the continuously growing economic potential of North Tapanuli, BTN wants to be present not only as a bank but as a partner for growth and empowerment of the North Tapanuli community,” said BTN President Director Nixon L.P. Napitupulu in a statement received in Jakarta on Friday. Nixon assessed that North Tapanuli has significant economic potential, particularly supported by a strong agricultural and plantation base, tourism in the Lake Toba area, and its strategic position as one of the economic growth centres in the Tapanuli region. With improving connectivity, the tourism sector, and economic activities in the Lake Toba area, he estimated that the need for banking services, financing, housing, SMEs, and regional infrastructure development is expected to continue increasing. Through the partnership with the North Tapanuli Regency Government, BTN will support regional financial management, strengthen public service transactions, and optimise locally generated revenue (PAD). Additionally, the company will expand support for the SME sector, regional hospital services, and the operational development of local enterprises. In the agreement, BTN is also ready to facilitate various community financing needs, from subsidised and non-subsidised home ownership credit (KPR) for civil servants (ASN) and the general public, SME financing, to support for strategic regional sectors. The BTN Solusi programme partnership with RSUD Tarutung is expected to strengthen the hospital’s financial service system, thereby improving the efficiency of healthcare transaction services. Meanwhile, the collaboration with Perumda Mual Na Tio is aimed at supporting the operational development of the local enterprise while strengthening services to the community. Nixon hopes that the synergy between BTN and the local government can provide broader economic impacts for North Tapanuli, including creating a multiplier effect on regional economic growth and improved community welfare. “The hope is that this collaboration can create a multiplier effect for economic growth and community welfare in North Tapanuli,” said Nixon. Meanwhile, North Tapanuli Regent Jonius Taripar Parsaoran Hutabarat stated that this partnership represents a positive synergy between the local government and the banking sector in driving inclusive and sustainable regional economic growth, including basic services such as healthcare. “We hope this partnership can run optimally and provide positive impacts on improving the quality of public services, strengthening the people’s economy, enhancing regional competitiveness, and the overall welfare of the North Tapanuli community,” said Jonius.
