PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BBTN) is assessing the option of buying back its shares amid volatility in the domestic capital market. The move is one of several corporate actions being considered to create added value for shareholders.

BTN President Director Nixon L.P. Napitupulu said share-price movements should be viewed comprehensively, taking into account the bank’s business fundamentals, growth prospects and ongoing transformation.

“We continue to monitor developments in the capital market and the various dynamics currently taking place. As a publicly listed company, BTN regularly evaluates strategic options that could serve the company’s long-term interests, including the possibility of a share buyback,” Nixon said in an official statement on Tuesday (20 October 2026).

Nixon said the assessment takes into account several factors, including the company’s financial position, capital adequacy, funding requirements for business expansion and applicable regulatory provisions. BTN is also considering possible uses for shares acquired through a buyback.

“A buyback is one of the options we are assessing, including the potential use of repurchased shares for specific purposes in line with the company’s needs. Any decision will, of course, be made in a measured way, taking into account the financial position, capital adequacy and the interests of all shareholders,” he said.

A buyback would not be new for BTN. In 2020, amid market pressure caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the company set aside Rp275 billion to repurchase shares on the secondary market.

Nixon stressed, however, that BTN remains focused on strengthening its fundamentals, improving performance and achieving healthy, sustainable growth. The company is also pursuing opportunities in housing finance, in line with its support for the 3 Million Homes Programme and its transformation beyond mortgages.

“Our main focus remains strengthening our fundamentals and achieving quality business growth. We see significant growth opportunities in the national housing sector, and BTN will continue to strengthen its business capabilities and services to capture those opportunities effectively,” Nixon said.

BTN said it would provide further information to the public if a decision is made on the corporate action, in accordance with applicable disclosure requirements.
