BTN Partners with BPS to Utilise Statistical Data for Housing Finance

Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN) is partnering with Statistics Indonesia (BPS) to utilise national statistical data, including by-name-by-address (BNBA) data, to enhance the accuracy of housing finance distribution and support the 3 Million Houses Programme. BTN President Director Nixon LP Napitupulu stated that the need for accurate data is crucial to ensure housing finance reaches the right targets, given the high demand for housing in Indonesia. “We need data to understand who the people are that do not yet own a home, their income levels, and their demographics,” Nixon said in a press statement. The collaboration was formalised through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two parties in Jakarta on Wednesday. Nixon noted that Indonesia still faces a home ownership backlog of approximately 9.9 million units, with new housing demand reaching around 700,000 to 800,000 units annually. He said that targeted financing is one of the keys to the success of the 3 Million Houses Programme. Through this partnership, BTN will utilise statistical data and by-name-by-address information in accordance with legal provisions to gain a more comprehensive picture of community housing needs based on location, socio-economic characteristics, purchasing power, and potential financing demand across various regions.
