Jakarta — PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN) posted a net profit of Rp2.40 trillion in the first half of 2026, a 40.8 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Concurrently, the bank’s credit quality improved, reflected in a decline in its non-performing loan (NPL) ratio to 2.99 percent, marking the first time it has fallen below 3 percent.

BTN President Director Nixon LP Napitupulu stated that this achievement is the result of a transformation undertaken by the company over recent years, ranging from strengthening governance and risk management to the digitalisation of business processes.

“This achievement is the result of a decade-long transformation that we have consistently carried out. We are optimistic that by the end of the year, BTN’s performance will remain on track, continuing the positive record from the first half of the year,” Nixon said during a press conference on the first half 2026 performance in Jakarta, Thursday (16/7/2026).

As of June 2026, BTN’s lending and financing reached Rp418.11 trillion, an 11.2 percent increase compared to the same period last year. This growth was driven by an increase in housing loans to Rp332.88 trillion and a surge in non-housing loans to Rp85.22 trillion.

On the funding side, BTN’s third-party funds grew 6.6 percent to Rp433 trillion, while total assets increased 12.4 percent to Rp545.16 trillion.

Nixon stated that the improvement in asset quality was a significant achievement in the first half of the year. In addition to the NPL declining to 2.99 percent, the loan at risk (LAR) ratio also improved to 18.6 percent from 20.2 percent in the same period last year. Meanwhile, the cost of credit fell to 0.7 percent from 2 percent.
