BTN Maintains MSCI ESG Rating Amid Indonesia's Downgrade
PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN) has confirmed that its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) rating from MSCI remains intact, even as MSCI lowered its assessment of the Indonesian capital market. The company views this achievement as a reflection of the results of governance and risk management transformations undertaken in recent years.
BTN President Director Nixon LP Napitupulu stated that the assessment demonstrates the transformation carried out by the company has impacted not only financial performance but also the strengthening of corporate governance.
“You can look at MSCI. Even though Indonesia experienced a downgrade, BTN still received a good ESG rating from MSCI,” Nixon said during a press conference on the first half of 2026 performance in Jakarta, Thursday (16/7/2026).
Additionally, BTN recently won an ASEAN Corporate Governance award. According to Nixon, the bank is considered one of the institutions with good implementation of governance, risk management, and compliance.
He said this achievement is the result of a transformation undertaken by BTN since 2019. The changes include strengthening human resources, digitising services, utilising technology, and improving the quality of customer service.
