The President Director of PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk, or BTN, Nixon L.P. Napitupulu, stated that the company will participate in the revitalisation of several tourist destinations managed by Taman Wisata Candi (TWC) Prambanan, Borobudur, Ratu Boko, or InJourney Destination Management (IDM). This commitment follows a written cooperation agreement signed by both parties at Prambanan Temple, Yogyakarta, on Thursday, 30 April 2026. The targeted destinations include the development of Borobudur Temple, Prambanan Temple, Ratu Boko Palace, and Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII). “This revitalisation support targets improvements in facilities, transaction systems, and funding for major events to attract more tourists,” Nixon said on Thursday. He views the enhancement of these recreational destinations as a relevant step because the tourism sector holds significant potential for economic circulation. In this cooperation, BTN will not only provide financial support but also manage payment systems, transactions, and financing across the entire area. “This partnership is not just about finance; we will handle the payment systems, transactions, and provide sponsorship for existing programmes,” Nixon said. He noted that BTN currently has 7 million customers, many of whom enjoy travelling. “So we will help encourage them to visit through various promotions and communications to become traffic for these tourist destinations,” Nixon added. Nixon emphasised that BTN’s involvement in destinations under IDM management has so far been limited to programmes such as the Swara Prambanan cultural event and Pasar Medang market. Through this new cooperation, the scope is being expanded. Meanwhile, the President Director of InJourney Destination Management (IDM), Febrina Intan, revealed that BTN’s support will greatly aid the grand plans for physical revitalisation and visitor experiences. Following the 95 per cent completion of Borobudur Temple’s renovation, IDM’s main focus next year will shift to Prambanan Temple, which will be modernised while preserving its historical value. “We will use BTN’s financial support for programmes that positively impact the tourism ecosystem,” she said. At Prambanan Temple, IDM will begin revamping the theatre performance area in the middle of this year, extending to the entire area next year. “Our focus is on building visitor experiences, so people don’t just come to see the temple but can enjoy much better shopping, dining, and souvenir areas,” she added. IDM will also revitalise the area up to Sewu Temple and provide spaces for local artists’ works. Febrina added that these improvements will also cover Ratu Boko Palace and TMII. At TMII, the support will materialise in public events such as the Pecinan Festival, Ramadhan Exploration, and Independence People’s Festival. Meanwhile, programmes for young people like the Lantern Festival and Move at the Temple will continue to be rolled out to broaden the destinations’ appeal.
