BTN develops low-emission housing
PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN) is continuing to transform its business to become a financial partner for Indonesian families. Its strategy involves developing a housing ecosystem, expanding home financing and accelerating digital services. The steps are also intended to strengthen BTN’s role in supporting the national housing programme.
In a BTN press release on 26 October, president director Nixon L.P. Napitupulu said the bank was not focusing solely on home-ownership finance or mortgage banking. It is also developing financial services to meet customers’ needs at different stages of life.
“We are pursuing this transformation while maintaining BTN’s mandate to support national housing finance, and at the same time extending our services to cover the various products and financial needs of Indonesian families,” Nixon said at a focus group discussion entitled “BTN Transformation: Building Synergies for Sustainable Business Growth” in Bandung, West Java, on Friday, 23 October 2026.
Developing low-emission homes
BTN is also integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles into the development of the housing sector.
One initiative is the Low-Emission Homes programme. By June 2026, BTN and its developer partners had built about 18,000 low-emission homes. The bank aims to increase that number to 200,000 by 2030.
BTN is also developing waste-management programmes in residential areas. It is running initiatives to support entrepreneurship in the housing sector, involving university students, the public, developers and business operators.
These programmes create opportunities to develop more environmentally friendly housing solutions while encouraging business participation in a sustainable economy.
Preparing talent for business growth
Human-resource development is part of BTN’s transformation agenda. The bank aims to recruit more than 100 graduates from global universities by 2027 to strengthen its capabilities and competitiveness.
BTN is also enhancing employee skills and developing technology to respond to changes in the financial-services industry. The adoption of good governance is part of its efforts to maintain the quality of business management.
Through these measures, BTN is continuing its transformation while maintaining its focus on housing finance, business development and meeting the financial needs of Indonesian families.
