Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk CEO Nixon LP Napitupulu is confident that demand still exists despite weakened public purchasing power. “We are actually creating more opportunities so that the market keeps moving,” Nixon said at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium complex in Jakarta on Saturday, 13 June 2026. He stressed that market players cannot change the external conditions affecting people’s purchasing power. However, according to him, these conditions do not limit entrepreneurs from stimulating demand to keep the economy running. One way to create demand, he revealed, is by organising large-scale events that attract crowds. “What we can change is how we respond to these conditions and turn them into something better,” he said. The statement was made during the BTN Jakarta International Marathon (JAKIM), a running event held in collaboration with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. He recounted that 10,000 Nike jackets were purchased by participants when collecting their mandatory race packs. In fact, he said, Nike decided to open a pre-order system because the available stock had sold out. Nixon is optimistic that the economic turnover from this running event will reach IDR 225 billion. He revealed that this target has doubled compared to last year’s figure of IDR 125 billion. He said the enthusiasm of the younger generation is one of the factors supporting the event’s success. “They remain driven to try new things. I am confident the economic value this year will be much greater,” he stated. This year’s BTN JAKIM was held over two days on 13–14 June 2026, featuring 5-kilometre and 10-kilometre race categories. Nixon said BTN JAKIM is the largest running tournament in Indonesia, with a total of 45,000 participants. In addition to Indonesian citizens, he mentioned that around 1,000 foreign nationals, including international athletes, participated in the race on the first day. Nixon stated that this year’s BTN JAKIM provided prizes worth over IDR 100 million for the winners. He also encouraged the event to achieve a gold label status, ensuring that the prize value offered would be even higher in the future.
