PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk, or BTN, and Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (Indosat or IOH) have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore collaborations in digital financial services within a more integrated digital ecosystem.

BTN’s President Director, Nixon L.P. Napitupulu, stated that partnering with digital industry players like Indosat is part of BTN’s strategy to accelerate the transformation of ecosystem-based banking services.

“Collaboration with a digital telecommunications company like Indosat is a strategic step for BTN to expand the reach of services and strengthen relevance in the daily lives of the public,” Nixon said in his statement on Saturday, 18 April 2026.

Through this approach, Nixon expressed his desire to provide banking services that are not only available when customers need financing but also become part of everyday financial activities.

“With the support of Bale by BTN and connectivity into a broader digital ecosystem, we are optimistic that BTN’s services will be even easier to access, more actively used, and able to create greater added value for the public,” he added.

This collaboration is a strategic step to deliver more practical, relevant, and accessible service access for the public, in efforts to support the acceleration of financial inclusion in Indonesia.

The synergy between BTN and Indosat will introduce a model of cooperation between a bank and a telecommunications company that is currently unique in Indonesia, by connecting Indosat’s digital reach and connectivity strengths with BTN’s banking service capabilities within a single ecosystem.

Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison’s President Director and Chief Executive Officer, Vikram Sinha, believes that technology must provide tangible benefits to the public. Therefore, Indosat’s collaboration with BTN is an important step to bring digital financial services that are closer, more relevant, and easier to access.

“Primarily through the digital ecosystem that has become part of the public’s daily life, as Indosat’s commitment to delivering a better experience,” he said.

This collaboration also aligns with efforts to accelerate financial inclusion. With telecommunications services reaching a wider segment of the public compared to formal financial services, this partnership is expected to help open access to digital banking for more layers of society.
