Three Garuda passengers injured in turbulence: Three passengers
Three Garuda passengers injured in turbulence: Three passengers
of a Garuda Indonesia flight from Frankfurt, Germany bound for
the resort island of Bali were hospitalized in Singapore Sunday
after they were injured in unexpected turbulence, Garuda
spokesman Pujo Broto told AFP. "The people were taken to three
different hospitals in Singapore upon landing but seven have
since been discharged and only three are now left at two
different hospitals, the Changi General Hospital and the Raffles
Hospital." He said the flight, GA-973, was approaching Singapore
when it hit "unexpected and undetected turbulence." Broto said
air stewardesses were serving breakfast at 23:45 GMT when the
heavy turbulence hit. Because it was unexpected, the crew had not
had time to warn passengers to fasten their seatbelts, he said.
He could not give details on the identity of the three still
hospitalized or on the injuries suffered. The aircraft was
declared airworthy in Singapore and continued its journey to
Denpasar in Bali with the other passengers.
