The Malaysian government has slashed its expectations for
economic growth this year to between 1 percent and 2 percent
because of the recent terrorist attacks in the United States, the
finance ministry said Friday. But despite the uncertainty
surrounding global economic recovery following the Sept. 11
attacks, the finance ministry said in the report that it projects
Malaysia's economic growth to be between 4 percent to 5 percent
next year, driven primarily by the domestic economy. -- AP
