New Taiwanese party seeks closer ties with China
By Goh Sui Noi
TAIPEI: Pro-independence political observers are setting great
store by the newly-formed Taiwan Solidarity Union (TSU) to change
the political landscape of Taiwan in favor of the ruling party,
and of pro-indigenisation Taiwanese.
The TSU, which is backed by former Taiwan president and former
Kuomintang (KMT) chairman Lee Teng-hui, espouses Lee's political
position on the indigenisation of Taiwanese society. The new
party also upholds his opposition to closer economic interaction
with China.
