BSSN Records 182 Potential Cyber Attacks Per Second on Indonesian Internet

The National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) recorded an average of 182 potential cyber attacks per second against various entities via the internet network in Indonesia. “Data for 2025 shows approximately 5.16 billion internet traffic anomalies were recorded,” said Slamet Aji Pamungkas, Deputy for Cyber Security and Crypto Economy at BSSN, during the BPD Summit 2026 in Semarang. According to him, the data is based on an analysis of internet traffic anomalies throughout 2025. He explained that these internet traffic anomalies are not necessarily cyber attacks, but they have the potential to become cyber attacks. Regarding the importance of the financial sector, he emphasised the need for robust cyber security that must be possessed by Regional Development Banks (BPD). “Cyber security must be viewed as an investment. Currently, many still consider cyber security a waste,” he said. “We will pay more if we are already hit by an attack,” he stated. Therefore, he encouraged the strengthening of cyber security that is designed from the outset, not merely as a reaction to an incident. “Do not let concern arise only after an attack occurs,” he urged.
