High volatility is expected to continue until the end of May.

The increasing digitalization in the banking sector has made cybersecurity a critical priority. Amidst the growing complexity of digital threats facing the financial industry, the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) and the Association of Regional Development Banks (Asbanda) have officially signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen cybersecurity for regional banks in Indonesia.

The signing ceremony was attended by Soetedjo Joewono, Secretary General of BSSN, and Agus H Widodo, Chairman of Asbanda, with the Head of BSSN, Nugroho Sulistyo Budi, also present.

The event was also attended by members of the Asbanda board and directors from Regional Development Banks (BPD) across Indonesia.

In an executive briefing to the BPD representatives, the Head of BSSN, Nugroho Sulistyo Budi, emphasized that technological advancements are always accompanied by increased cyber threats, making security a crucial aspect alongside digital innovation in banking. He believes that the commitment of BPD directors is essential in building the digital resilience of the national banking sector.

“Cybersecurity is no longer just a technical matter; it has become a vital pillar in mitigating business risks,” said Nugroho.

Meanwhile, Agus H Widodo, Chairman of Asbanda, stated that the banking industry now focuses not only on financial services but also on technological speed, data integrity, and public digital trust. Agus believes that cyber threats are becoming increasingly rapid, complex, and organized, making them a strategic national issue.

“Cyberattacks not only impact information technology systems but can also affect public trust, operational stability, institutional reputation, and even the economic stability of regions and the nation,” said Agus.

Agus emphasized that BPDs have a strategic role as partners to local governments, drivers of the local economy, supporters of MSMEs, and facilitators of financial services for communities in various regions. Therefore, maintaining the cybersecurity of BPDs is considered just as important as ensuring the continuity of public services and regional economic activities. Through this collaboration, BSSN and Asbanda will strengthen synergy in building a secure and reliable digital banking service ecosystem.

The collaboration focuses on strengthening cybersecurity capabilities across all BPDs, improving the competence and awareness of human resources, developing early warning systems, and exchanging information on cyber threats. Additionally, the cooperation includes strengthening IT governance and risk management as well as fostering a culture of cyber resilience within the national BPD environment.

Asbanda also appreciates BSSN’s role, which is seen not only as a state institution in cybersecurity but also as a strategic partner in building digital resilience for the national banking industry.

“Maintaining cybersecurity ultimately means protecting not only technology systems but also public trust and the future of Indonesia’s financial industry,” Agus concluded.

Asbanda encourages BPDs to undergo a fundamental transformation, shifting from being mere managers of regional government funds to orchestrators of regional fund flows.

The Association of Regional Development Banks, together with Bank Jateng, held the drawing for the 2nd National Simpeda Lottery Period of XXXVI-2026 last weekend.

The Director of Bank Jakarta, Agus H Widodo, as Chairman of Asbanda for the period 2025–2029, replaces Yuddy Renaldi, former Director of Bank BJB.

The GOVERNMENT has promised wage subsidies (BSU) for workers, including those in Village Consultative Assemblies (BPD), amounting to Rp600 thousand.

Effective digital transformation within BPDs will improve service quality, expand financial inclusion, and support regional economic growth.

The success of Indonesia’s digital economy depends heavily on cybersecurity preparedness across all sectors.

Bank Jakarta has successfully recorded positive financial performance up to the third quarter of 2025.

The Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa is advised to disclose data regarding funds from several regional governments that are allegedly held in banks.
