S'pore media giant SPH retrenches staff: Media giant Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) said Friday that 65 employees will be retrenched as part of the company's efforts to consolidate its manpower resources. The retrenchment will take effect Saturday and will bring its headcount to 3,700, SPH said. SPH, which publishes the dominant Straits Times English-language daily and most other newspapers in the city-state, moved into its new headquarters early this year, housing the entire operations under one roof. -- AFP
