South Kalimantan governor fired: Following pressure from thousands of demonstrators outside the legislative building, the South Kalimantan Legislative Council decided on Wednesday evening to dismiss Governor Sjachriel Darham. The decision was taken after a vote, with 37 in favor of the dismissal and 12 abstentions. Those abstaining were unelected Military/Police representatives and United Development Party councillors. Governor Sjachriel said after the voting that he would not accept his dismissal, adding that it was the work of those opposed to him.
