BSKDN Kemendagri urges regional governments to improve performance and continue innovating
The Domestic Policy Strategy Agency of the Ministry of Home Affairs (BSKDN Kemendagri) is encouraging regional governments to continue improving their performance and delivering innovation through the 2026 Outstanding Regional Government Appreciation event, Batch II for the Java-Bali region.
At the event held in Badung Regency, Bali, on Friday (28/8), Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian said the appreciation is not solely intended to give awards to regions that have achieved the best results.
“The event can also serve as a means to motivate regions to keep improving their performance while showcasing the various good practices they have implemented,” Tito said, as quoted from a statement received in Jakarta on Saturday.
He said the outstanding regional government appreciation programme was previously carried out through batch I with a number of assessment categories.
In batch II, the assessment covers four categories: Implementation of the 3 Million Houses Programme, Access to and Quality of Health Services, Population Access to Education Services, and Waste Management and a Green Environment.
“Congratulations to colleagues who received awards, and for those who have not been fortunate, there is still batch III, which hopefully can motivate everyone to work harder,” he said.
The event is one of the efforts to provide a space of appreciation for regional governments that have shown achievements in supporting development priorities and public services.
In addition to giving awards, the event is also expected to encourage positive competition between regions while expanding good practices that can be applied in other regions.
The event also showcased the various ideas and creativity of regional heads in running government and providing services to the public.
The achievements of each region are expected to inspire other regional governments to continue developing innovations according to the needs and characteristics of their regions.
Through this appreciation, the Ministry of Home Affairs hopes that more regional governments will be encouraged to deliver breakthroughs and innovations in responding to the various needs of the public.
Thus, competition between regions is not only oriented towards winning awards, but can also encourage sustainable improvements in the quality of governance and public services.
As additional information, in the Implementation of the 3 Million Houses Programme category, provincial-level awards were given to West Java and Banten.
At the regency level, the award recipients consisted of Banyuwangi, Kuningan, and Madiun. Meanwhile, the city-level category was won by Bogor, Surabaya, and Cilegon.
For the Access to and Quality of Health Services category, provincial-level awards were given to Bali and DKI Jakarta. At the regency level, awards were won by Rembang, Bantul, and Klungkung. At the city level, awards were given to Mojokerto, Tegal, and Surabaya.
In the Population Access to Education Services category, provincial-level awards were given to Yogyakarta and Bali. At the regency level, awards were won by Ponorogo, Kulon Progo, and Magetan. At the city level, awards were given to Salatiga, Blitar, and Madiun.
In the Waste Management and Green Environment category, provincial-level awards were won by East Java and Central Java.
At the regency level, awards were given to Wonosobo, Sidoarjo, and Ciamis. At the city level, the recipients were Malang, Blitar, and Surabaya.
