PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BSI, has won two awards at the Anugerah Syariah Republika (ASR) 2026. BSI received the Outstanding Achievement in Islamic Finance Leadership award and the Excellence in Digital Bullion Award. BSI Vice President Director Bob T Ananta accepted the awards directly on Wednesday (1/7/2026). As the winner of the Outstanding Achievement in Islamic Finance Leadership ASR 2026, BSI was judged to have become a strong leader in the national Islamic finance industry thanks to its superior performance, continuous innovation, and strategic contribution to strengthening the sharia economic ecosystem. This award is the highest appreciation for Islamic financial institutions at the Anugerah Syariah Republika 2026. Meanwhile, the Excellence in Digital Bullion Award was given because BSI delivers innovative digital gold services and expands access to sharia-based gold investment. As a pioneer of bullion banking in Indonesia, this innovation strengthens the national gold ecosystem while encouraging the development of Islamic finance. ASR 2026 carried the theme ‘Sharia for All: Beyond Profit, Toward Purpose’, which emphasises the importance of the Islamic economy in delivering benefits to society alongside driving business growth. Republika Editor-in-Chief Andi Muhyiddin said the theme was chosen to affirm that sharia principles prioritise a balance between business success, social responsibility, sustainability, and public welfare. The judging process for ASR 2026 was supported by an Independent Jury Team from Karim Consulting Indonesia. The event also featured a Reader’s Choice category involving public participation through online polling, which gathered 27,414 votes, an increase compared to the previous year’s event. Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak appreciated Republika’s consistency in overseeing the development of the Islamic economy in Indonesia. He noted that the media has an important role in building tradition while strengthening the national sharia economic ecosystem. He expressed hope that Republika would continue to enlighten the public on sharia economic practices and appreciate sharia economic entities. He assessed that the biggest challenge for the Islamic economy today is maintaining public trust amid the emergence of various deviations in the name of sharia. Therefore, industry players need to prioritise sharia moral values in every business practice.
