BSI to Launch Scholarship Programme for 5,250 Students in 2026
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BSI, is launching its BSI Scholarship programme again in 2026. This year, the company aims to provide scholarships to 5,250 students and university students from underprivileged families who have academic achievements and leadership potential.
This programme consists of 3,750 university students and 1,500 students in various regions of Indonesia. The scholarship programme is run in collaboration with BSI Maslahat.
BSI’s Director, Anggoro Eko Cahyo, said that the scholarship programme is not only in the form of educational assistance but also part of a long-term investment to prepare Indonesia’s future generation.
According to him, the programme is also part of the social contribution of Islamic banking through the optimization of corporate Zakat.
“The stronger BSI’s performance, the greater the contribution we can make to the community. Therefore, Zakat is not just an obligation, but an instrument for empowering people that can break the chain of poverty through education,” he said.
The BSI Scholarship is a Zakat-based scholarship programme that has been running since 2021. To date, the programme has reached more than 10,162 beneficiaries, consisting of 7,962 university students and 2,200 students.
The BSI Scholarship has seven programme categories, namely the student, excellence, inspiration, talent, achievement, affirmation, and Talenta KIP-K BSI categories.
The student category is intended for high-achieving high school students from less affluent families.
Meanwhile, the university student category is intended for active students from BSI partner campuses who have academic and non-academic achievements and come from disadvantaged families.
In addition to tuition fees and living expenses, scholarship recipients also receive capacity-building programmes, such as leadership training, character strengthening, Islamic economic literacy, social community training, and career preparation for final-year students.
With this approach, the scholarship programme is expected to not only produce academic graduates but also resilient, adaptable human resources with social awareness.
As the largest Islamic bank in Indonesia, BSI continues to distribute corporate Zakat to support the strengthening of the community’s economy.
Throughout 2025, BSI distributed corporate Zakat amounting to IDR 289 billion through the National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas).
This distribution benefited more than 12,500 beneficiaries in the field of education and 223,000 beneficiaries in the field of humanitarian aid, as well as thousands of other beneficiaries in the fields of economy, health, and da’wah (Islamic outreach).
