BSI Targets Rp5,000 Trillion Market Potential to Elevate Indonesia's Halal Ecosystem
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BSI is striving to elevate Indonesia’s halal ecosystem to optimise the national halal lifestyle market potential of Rp5,000 trillion.
BSI Managing Director Anggoro Eko Cahyo said the role of Islamic banking has transformed far beyond merely providing financial transactions.
To this end, BSI has prepared strategic measures, including aggressive yet sustainable financing acceleration across various productive sectors.
“BSI is not merely a transactional financial institution. More than that, Islamic banking now helps shape direction and is a key driver of new economic growth flows,” he said in a written statement on Sunday (24 May 2026).
This is being done through services in the UMKM Centre ecosystem, including business guidance for non-bankable enterprises, training, capacity building, and opening market access via business matching with national and international buyers.
BSI is also aggressively entering strategic networks such as Islamic boarding schools, schools, communities, halal industries, and the hajj and umrah sector to integrate business potential within them.
“We are committed to ensuring sustainable SME growth,” Anggoro said.
Anggoro is optimistic that the Rp5,000 trillion potential figure could rise further if the entire halal industry and SME ecosystem is fully integrated with Islamic banking as the primary financial partner.
“The big challenge for us is how Islamic banks can lead and optimally explore this massive potential, given Indonesia is the world’s largest Muslim-majority nation,” he added.
