PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) is strengthening its support for micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) players in the halal sector. The support provided ranges from financing and halal certification to business mentoring so that MSMEs can advance to the next level. VP Business Strategy of BSI’s Islamic Ecosystem Group, Yosita Nur Wirdayanti, stated that BSI’s halal ecosystem development refers to the roadmap prepared by the National Committee for Islamic Economy and Finance (KNEKS) and the Financial Services Authority (OJK). According to her, the interconnection between Islamic financial institutions and the Islamic economic ecosystem is one of the focuses in industry development. “BSI wants to take a role because we are the largest Islamic bank in Indonesia,” Yosita said during the Islamic Finance Dialogue at Soehana Hall, Jakarta, on Wednesday (1/7/2026). She explained that one form of support for MSMEs is through the distribution of Sharia People’s Business Credit (KUR). In addition, BSI also provides various transaction and financing services according to the needs of business actors. Yosita revealed that the portion of MSME financing at BSI has reached more than 20 percent of the company’s total financing. “This means that, as a bank, we are indeed entering the MSME segment,” she said. Besides financing, BSI also collaborates with the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) and KNEKS to help MSMEs obtain halal certification through the Zona KHAS programme. On the business development side, the company has four MSME Centres located in Aceh, Surabaya, Makassar, and Kalimantan. The company also runs the BSI Talenta Wirausaha programme, which not only provides training but also mentoring for business actors and start-ups in the halal sector.
