REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Bank Syariah Indonesia or BSI remains optimistic amid global economic pressures and the weakening rupiah. The company assesses that the gold business and Hajj services continue to be the main pillars of sharia financing growth this year.

Deputy Director Bob T Ananta stated that the company’s performance up to February 2026 is still growing solidly. All financial ratios are said to remain positive and above the banking industry average.

“This achievement is supported by good intermediation functions, an increase in low-cost funds, and financing expansion that maintains healthy financing quality,” Bob told Republika on Tuesday (12/5/2026).

According to him, BSI is currently still focusing on strengthening businesses deemed resilient to economic turbulence, particularly the Hajj ecosystem and gold. The company is continuing to expand bullion banking, instalment gold, and gold pawning, which are still in demand by the public.

Bob said that Hajj services also become BSI’s main strength because the majority of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims use the company’s services. This year, around 83 percent of Hajj pilgrims are recorded as coming from BSI.

“BSI is not only present as a financial partner, but also as a financial, social, and spiritual friend to the community, including helping with early Hajj preparations,” said Bob.

In addition to the gold and Hajj businesses, BSI also continues to disburse financing for sectors close to the public such as MSMEs, sharia KUR, and FLPP mortgages. This step is taken while still upholding prudence principles and financing quality.
