Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BSI) has stated its readiness to carry out the mandate of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to expand access to Sharia financial services that are easy, secure, modern, and inclusive for all Indonesian people.

The company expressed its appreciation for the President’s trust, which encourages the public to utilise national banking services, including opening accounts with BSI.

“This trust serves as a driver for us to continuously improve service quality and expand public access to secure, modern, and inclusive financial services,” said BSI President Director Anggoro Eko Cahyo in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.

According to Anggoro, as more people hold bank accounts, national financial inclusion and literacy will be further strengthened. Through various Sharia products and services, BSI also encourages the public to build financial planning habits from an early age, ranging from gold investments to Hajj savings that can be started with as little as Rp50,000.

Currently, BSI operates more than 1,130 branches and 134,000 BSI Agents across Indonesia. Additionally, account opening services can be performed digitally via BYOND by BSI, allowing the public to open accounts easily without needing to visit a branch.

The company continues to strengthen its digital transformation and information technology, which has driven its customer base to reach 24.3 million by mid-202ng. The company’s performance remains healthy, with net profit reaching Rp4.16 trillion in the first semester of 2026, an 11 per cent increase year-on-year.

“We are ready to serve all segments of society, even in the remotest parts of the country, and continue to contribute to strengthening national financial inclusion through trusted and sustainable Sharia banking services,” said Anggoro.

It was previously reported that during a limited meeting (ratas) at the Indonesian Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday (7/9), President Prabowo instructed his officials to ensure every Indonesian citizen has a bank account to strengthen domestic financial inclusion and literacy levels.

Indonesia’s financial inclusion index has reached 93.61 per cent nationally, while financial literacy has reached 69.57 per cent, according to the results of the 2026 National Survey of Financial Literacy and Inclusion (SNLIK).

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that these figures are relatively good compared to the achievements of other OECD countries. Therefore, Airlangga noted, President Prabowo has instructed Himbara banks, specifically BRI and Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), to prepare bank accounts for the public.

On the same occasion, Airlangga revealed that to expand the reach of bank account ownership, population and civil registry data (dukcapil) will be integrated with the Bank Indonesia system, particularly for the payment system and gateway system.

“The data used will be from dukcapil, and that data will certainly be matched with the existing systems in Bank Indonesia, especially for the payment system and the gateway system, namely using QRIS. This is being prepared so that our financial literacy and inclusion can reach an optimal level, higher than what we have already achieved,” said Coordinating Minister Airlangga.
