JAKARTA - Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) President Director Anggoro Eko Cahyo stated that qurban transactions via the BYOND platform reached Rp2.5 billion this year, in collaboration with 25 official zakat management agencies (LAZ). “The BYOND platform data currently stands at Rp2.5 billion, which is double last year’s total,” he said during a symbolic distribution event for sacrificial animals in Jakarta on Tuesday. Previously, members of the public had questioned where to find a suitable and sharia-compliant place for qurban slaughter. BSI’s involvement ensures people no longer need to worry, as animals are purchased and slaughtered in accordance with sharia guidelines at designated facilities. In addition to BYOND, the public can purchase sacrificial animals via the BSI Hasanah Card, with transactions nearing Rp20 billion. This service offers varying prices starting at Rp1.9 million for goats, which has been a key driver of higher public participation. Anggoro emphasised that the essence of Islamic banking is balancing business performance with tangible social impact for the community. He added that BSI’s positive performance must align with increased ZISWAF (zakat, infak, sadaqah, and waqf) volumes to directly benefit communities’ welfare, including through equitable distribution of sacrificial animals. This year, BSI has prepared 24,053 sacrificial animals to be distributed across the country, including 3T regions (underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost areas), ahead of Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah. The breakdown includes approximately 1,000 cattle and 23,000 goats. This represents a 57% increase from last year’s 15,272 animals, with the total value of distributed qurban reaching Rp67.8 billion. This significant achievement aligns with the bank’s ongoing acceleration of digital transformation. Through the BYOND app and BSI Hasanah Card financing, the bank facilitates easier, safer, and more trustworthy qurban rituals for the public. “We hope all BSI customers continue to use BYOND as a social and spiritual companion. While many already use it as a financial partner, BSI’s mission is to be a financial, social, and spiritual companion,” Anggoro said.
