BSI prepares 24,000 sacrificial animals for Eid al-Adha across 3T regions

PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BSI) has prepared 24,053 sacrificial animals for distribution across the country, including in 3T (underdeveloped, border, and outermost) regions, for Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah. The breakdown comprises approximately 1,000 cattle and 23,000 goats, representing a 57% increase from last year’s 15,272 animals.

‘Alhamdulillah this year’s total value of distributed sacrificial animals amounts to Rp67.8 billion,’ said BSI President Director Anggoro Eko Cahyo during a symbolic distribution event in Jakarta on Tuesday.

BSI’s Qurban programme is designed to generate a multiplier effect for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The bank directly engaged 37 local breeders, 19 of whom are MSMEs and BSI-assisted villages across Aceh, South Sumatra, Jabodetabek, Java, South Sulawesi, Kalimantan, and Nusa Tenggara.

The bank aims to ensure grassroots economic growth from source to end by providing BSI-assisted breeders with a guaranteed market and quality-controlled livestock stock. It is also committed to environmentally sustainable distribution using bamboo baskets, which ‘are ideal for storing sacrificial meat as they are not tightly sealed, helping to preserve freshness,’ he added.

The sacrificial meat is distributed to over 600,000 households allocated to underprivileged communities, disaster-affected areas, and Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). BSI ensures all animals are healthy, in prime condition, and certified by local slaughterhouses (RPH) and livestock departments.
