PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) posted a profit of Rp4.15 trillion in the first half of 2026, representing an 11% year-on-year (yoy) increase.

Director of Finance & Strategy at BSI, Ade Cahyo Nugroho, said the profit growth was partly supported by fee-based income, which surged by more than 38%.

“BSI’s fee-based income reached more than Rp4 trillion in this half-year,” Cahyo said during a virtual BSI press conference on Friday (21/8/2026).

The gold business was one of the main growth engines for fee-based income. Revenue from the gold business grew 92% year-on-year, primarily supported by pawn and gold savings products, amid treasury activities that also showed positive growth.

On the funding side, BSI’s third-party funds (DPK) were supported by savings growth of more than 22%. The growth occurred across various products, both wadiah and non-wadiah savings, all of which recorded double-digit growth.

Meanwhile, on the intermediation side, BSI’s financing reached Rp340.09 trillion, growing 15.98% year-on-year. The financing growth was supported by the wholesale banking segment, which grew 16.62%, mainly driven by corporate financing that surged 21.13%.

In the retail segment, BSI’s financing grew 12.58% in the second quarter of 2026, with a major contribution from micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) financing. MSME financing grew 19.98%, while the consumer, gold, and card segment—the main base of BSI’s business—rose 16.70%.

“This segment (consumer, gold & card) remains the main contributor or the largest part of BSI’s total financing, namely more than half—55.65% of consumer, gold, and card financing is the backbone of BSI’s financing,” said BSI Director of Risk Management Grandhis Helmi Harumansyah.

Specifically for gold financing, growth reached 80.52% year-on-year to Rp30.4 trillion. The growth in gold financing was accompanied by a yield of around 12.4% and a non-performing financing (NPF) ratio that remained low at 0.11%.

In terms of overall asset quality, BSI’s gross NPF ratio improved to 1.8%, while net NPF stood at 0.33%.
