BSI Pays Corporate and Employee Zakat of Rp289.38 Billion to BAZNAS

PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BSI) has channelled corporate and employee zakat for the 2025 collection period amounting to Rp289.38 billion through the National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS), an increase of 7.7 per cent compared to the previous year (year-on-year/yoy). BSI President Director Anggoro Eko Cahyo stated that the amount consists of approximately Rp250 billion in corporate zakat, taken from 2.5 per cent of the company’s gross profit, and around Rp39 billion in employee zakat. “This also serves as evidence that as BSI’s performance grows, its contribution to zakat will also increase,” said Anggoro Eko Cahyo in Jakarta on Wednesday. He noted that over the five years since its establishment in 2021 until 2025, the bank has channelled a total of Rp1.07 trillion in corporate and employee zakat. Anggoro added that the collected zakat is also used to support community economic empowerment programmes in 77 assisted villages and 54 MSME centres. Regarding the 2025 disbursement realisation, utilising zakat funds collected in the previous year amounting to Rp268.6 billion, the bank has reached more than 1.2 million beneficiaries through over 40 programmes in the economic, education, health, humanitarian, and da’wah and advocacy sectors. He stated that BSI is ready to collaborate with BAZNAS to support the optimisation of zakat collection, which is projected to have the potential to reach Rp327 trillion per year but is currently only realised at Rp42 trillion. BAZNAS Chairman Sodik Mudjahid welcomed the collaboration with the state-owned bank to optimise zakat receipts and distribution as one means of empowering the ummah. He explained that zakat can drive equitable distribution and community economic growth. BAZNAS hopes that the cooperation with BSI can support the expansion of the national sharia economic ecosystem. “Working together with BSI is a model of collaboration in zakat giving in commitment to a people’s economy,” said Sodik Mudjahid.
