Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BSI) has launched the BSI Tabungan Umrah (Umrah Savings) product to make it easier for customers to plan and undertake their umrah pilgrimage to the Holy Land.

BSI Director of Sales and Distribution Anton Sukarna stated that the company is introducing the new product as an end-to-end solution for customers performing their religious duties, from saving money and purchasing umrah packages to making payment transactions while pilgrims are in Saudi Arabia.

“God willing, the ecosystem will be integrated end-to-end, from saving at BSI, purchasing the umrah travel package at BSI, making transactions using BSI cards, and during the umrah itself, everything remains integrated with the BSI ecosystem, as this savings account can continue to be used as an everyday account,” he said in Jakarta on Monday afternoon (23/2).

He explained that one of the benefits for umrah savings customers is the Visa Mabrur Debit Card facility, which provides free cash withdrawals at ATMs in Saudi Arabia, competitive exchange rates, transaction cashback, and a donation programme from purchases at food merchants.

Anton said the BSI Tabungan Umrah is expected to strengthen both the business-to-customer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) ecosystems, given that the product not only targets individual customers but is also designed to bolster the hajj and umrah business ecosystem more broadly.

He noted that the product operates under a wadiah contract intended for individuals, available in two currency options — Indonesian rupiah (IDR) and US dollars (USD) — with no administration fees.

For the rupiah option, the minimum initial deposit for customers is set at Rp100,000, with subsequent minimum deposits of Rp10,000. Customers are required to maintain a minimum balance of Rp50,000, whilst the account closure fee is set at Rp20,000.

“The BSI Tabungan Umrah is also expected to create a closed loop within the halal tourism ecosystem, featuring umrah travel package purchases through BYOND by BSI, as the product is integrated with the umrah package purchasing feature via the BYOND by BSI application,” said Anton Sukarna.
