JAKARTA - PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BSI) has recorded positive performance in its gold business. As of June 2026, BSI had traded 8.06 tonnes of gold through its bullion bank service, with the number of customers surpassing 1.3 million. Since the beginning of 2026, the number of BSI bullion bank customers has increased by 700% year-on-year, driving a 712% annual surge in fee-based income from the gold business. BSI Director of Finance and Strategy Ade Cahyo Nugroho stated that amid challenging economic conditions and more selective investment behaviour, gold has increasingly become a choice for preserving asset value. “Through the bullion service, we aim to provide easy, safe, and affordable gold investment so that the public can begin their golden journey in building long-term assets,” he said in an official statement on Monday (29/7/2026). He added that the growth of the bullion business not only strengthens BSI’s position as a bank with a national sharia gold ecosystem but also serves as a significant source of fee-based income growth for the company. The bullion service complements BSI’s gold ecosystem, which previously included gold instalment plans, gold pawnbroking, and BSI Gold sales. In total, the outstanding gold pawn and instalment financing reached Rp 30.5 trillion as of June 2026, with growth of 80.50%. By July 2026, the gold business contribution had pushed the company’s fee-based income to approximately Rp 2.10 trillion, a 100% increase compared to the same period the previous year. BSI expressed optimism that the gold business prospects will continue to strengthen, driven by increasing public awareness of investment diversification and wealth protection.
