BSI Explore 2026 to Begin, Involving Students in Village Community Service Programme
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The involvement of students in community service is an important part of the learning process in higher education. Through field activities, students hone their abilities whilst also understanding the needs of the community.
Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI), as a Creative Digital Campus, is once again organising BSI Explore 2026, a community service programme (PKM) involving selected students who will go directly to partner villages in 3T regions (Disadvantaged, Frontier and Outermost).
The programme is designed as a vehicle for students to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during their studies.
In its 2026 implementation, participants will be placed in 38 partner villages for one month. They will work in teams of five students each to carry out work programmes that have been prepared in accordance with the needs of the local community.
The head of BSI Explore 2026, Ade Suriyadi, explained that the programme is one form of implementing experience-based learning. Students do not only learn in the classroom, but also gain the opportunity to interact directly with the community.
He said that BSI Explore 2026 is a flagship community service programme organised by UBSI.
“This programme is systematically designed to give selected students the opportunity to directly apply the knowledge and skills acquired during their lectures in the midst of the community,” said Ade, quoted on Friday (17/7/2026).
He added that each group of students will receive guidance from a Field Supervising Lecturer (DPL). This supervision is carried out to ensure that the work programmes run according to plan and are able to produce outputs that benefit both the community and the students.
“For one month, participants will be placed in teams across 38 partner villages to carry out the work programmes that have been designed. Each team of five students will be under the guidance of one Field Supervising Lecturer to ensure the objectives and outputs of the programme are achieved,” Ade explained.
Ade expressed his hope that, through BSI Explore 2026, students will develop their abilities to adapt, collaborate, and solve problems in a real environment.
At the same time, the programme also serves as a means for the university to strengthen the contribution of higher education in supporting development and community empowerment in various regions.
