PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) has channelled corporate and employee zakat amounting to Rp 289 billion to the National Zakat Agency (Baznas) RI. This distribution affirms BSI’s position as one of the largest corporate zakat contributors in the country.

Throughout 2025, the value of zakat collected by BSI increased by 7.77% compared to the previous year. This rise aligns with the company’s business performance growth. Over the five years since its founding in 2021 to 2025, the total zakat distributed by BSI has reached Rp 1.07 trillion.

The impact is already being felt by society. From the 2024 zakat funds of Rp 268.6 billion, BSI has reached more than 1.2 million beneficiaries through dozens of programmes in the fields of economics, education, health, humanitarian efforts, and da’wah.

BSI President Director Anggoro Eko Cahyo stated that zakat is not merely an obligation but part of the company’s strategy to promote equitable welfare. “As a sharia bank, we want business growth to go hand in hand with benefits felt by society,” he said in Jakarta on Wednesday (1/4/2026).

The zakat distribution consists of Rp 250.3 billion from the company and Rp 39.5 billion from employees. The funds were handed over to Baznas for subsequent distribution through various empowerment programmes.

BSI’s collaboration with Baznas and BSI Maslahat focuses on strengthening the Muslim economy. The programmes include developing assisted villages, UMKM centres, and scholarships for students and university students. To date, the education programmes implemented have reached more than 10,000 recipients.

Baznas RI Chairman Sodik Mudjahid appreciated BSI’s consistency in distributing zakat. According to him, the collaboration is important for expanding the impact of programmes that directly address community needs. “We are ready to develop this zakat distribution for programmes with broad impact,” he said.

In addition to direct distribution, BSI is also expanding access to zakat, infaq, alms, and waqf payments through various digital channels and office networks. Throughout 2025, social fund collection through these channels reached Rp 236 billion with more than 10 million transactions.

On the other hand, BSI’s financial performance supports this social contribution. In 2025, the company’s profit was recorded at Rp 7.57 trillion, or an annual growth of 8.02%, with the number of customers reaching 23 million.

BSI assesses that the national zakat potential is still very large. Optimising collection and distribution is considered one of the important instruments in strengthening the Muslim economy, especially amid efforts to drive more inclusive growth.
