BSI Distributes Basic Food Packages to Aid Flash Flood Victims in Solok
PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BSI) has distributed the first phase of disaster response assistance for communities affected by flash floods in Solok Regency, West Sumatra. This aid was provided as a form of corporate care and a rapid response to the disaster caused by heavy rainfall.
BSI Corporate Secretary Wisnu Sunandar stated that the Sumatra regional team acted immediately upon receiving information regarding the natural disaster. The bank promptly coordinated with various relevant agencies on the ground. This synergy aims to accelerate the distribution of humanitarian aid to all affected residents.
“BSI empathises with the flash flood disaster occurring in Solok Regency. As a form of our commitment to ‘Serving with All Our Heart’, we are moving quickly to distribute emergency aid to help lighten the burden on survivors and meet their basic needs during this emergency response period,” Wisnu said in a written statement on Wednesday (23/09/2026).
The presence of this rapid response team is expected to gradually help restore both the physical and psychological conditions of the victims.
In this first phase, BSI has distributed various basic necessities in the form of food packages to the people of Solok. Wisnu emphasised that BSI’s presence is not merely focused on the distribution of logistics. The company is determined to be part of a collective effort to accompany the community in recovering from the difficult post-disaster period.
“We hope the distributed aid can provide direct benefits to the affected community. BSI will continue to monitor developments on the ground and coordinate with relevant parties to distribute further aid according to the community’s needs,” he added.
The next wave of aid distribution will be adjusted based on the mapping of the most urgent needs in the evacuation tents.
Based on initial field monitoring, a number of residents are in great need of 200 blankets. Requirements for baby and women’s supplies were also recorded at 200 units each, followed by an additional 500 units of logistics. BSI continues to mature its coordination with volunteers and authorities to ensure that further aid distribution reaches the intended targets.
Wisnu also ensured that all banking services in the West Sumatra region, including Solok Regency, continue to operate normally and remain accessible to customers. The company is periodically conducting close monitoring of the operational service networks at various crucial points. This is being done to ensure that customers’ transaction and financial service needs are met without hindrance.
Through this humanitarian action, BSI reaffirms its strong commitment to always be present among the wider community. The company does not only position itself as a professional Sharia financial institution; BSI is always ready to be a social partner that consistently provides a real contribution to the nation, especially when facing emergency disaster situations.
