BSI Contributes Rp289 Billion in Zakat to Baznas, Up 7.77%
PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BSI) has channelled corporate and employee zakat amounting to Rp289 billion to the National Zakat Agency (Baznas) of Indonesia. The total zakat funds contributed by BSI in 2025 rose 7.77% year-on-year (yoy), reinforcing the consistent upward trend in BSI’s zakat contributions in line with the growth of the company’s business performance.
Cumulatively, since its establishment in 2021 up to 2025, the total zakat channelled by BSI has reached Rp1.07 trillion.
BSI’s zakat since its founding has served as a catalyst for driving the community’s economy, particularly from the perspective of beneficiaries. In 2025, from the 2024 corporate zakat funds of Rp268.6 billion, BSI reached more than 1.2 million beneficiaries through over 40 programmes in the economic, education, health, humanitarian, as well as da’wah and advocacy sectors.
The official handover of the zakat, consisting of Rp250.3 billion in corporate zakat and Rp39.5 billion in employee zakat, was conducted by BSI President Director Anggoro Eko Cahyo to Baznas RI Chairman Sodik Mudjahid in Jakarta on Wednesday, 1 April 2026, witnessed by Baznas and BSI executives.
“We position our zakat as a strategic instrument to strengthen the community’s economy and promote equitable welfare,” stated BSI President Director Anggoro Eko Cahyo in an official statement on Wednesday (1/4).
For economic strengthening distribution, BSI collaborates with Baznas RI and BSI Maslahat through mustahik empowerment programmes, channelling funds among others in the form of the BSI 77 Villages economic programme including BSI UMKM Centres across Indonesia, and the BSI Scholarship education programme for school and university students with a total of more than 10,000 student and university student recipients, the Qur’an House programme, and others.
Furthermore, Anggoro also revealed that as a financial, social, and spiritual companion, BSI provides ease of ZISWAF payments for the public through offline channels (1,130 BSI branches) as well as e-channels via ATMs, QRIS, BYOND by BSI, BSI Mobile, and Scheduled Transaction features, or through transfers from other banks. There is also a special programme such as wakaf for hospitals and schools that can be accessed by BSI customers via the BYOND by BSI application, where the programme collaborates with trusted nazhir.
The amount of donations collected through various BSI payment channels in 2025 reached Rp236 billion with a total of 10.5 million transactions. “We see that the 2026 ZISWAF collection trend per month is higher compared to 2025. And as a bank, we are quite proud.”
In addition to social contributions, BSI continues to strengthen its role in national economic development through various strategic initiatives, including financing for the real sector and UMKM, support for government priority programmes, and the development of an inclusive sharia financial ecosystem.
Going forward, BSI is committed to continuously expanding its social impact through the optimisation of ZISWAF collection and channelling, including through the strengthening of digital services such as the BYOND by BSI superapp. Through the Sharing feature, the public can easily channel zakat, infak, wakaf, and donations, which are currently integrated with 49 official Zakat Amil Institutions (LAZ) in Indonesia.
