BSI (BRIS) Records Rp382 Trillion in Third-Party Funds, Boosted by Dubai Branch

PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (BRIS) recorded third-party funds (DPK) of Rp382 trillion, growing 17.90% year-on-year (yoy) as of April 2026. Financing also expanded by double digits, rising 15.59% yoy to Rp332 trillion. This growth propelled BSI’s total assets to Rp452 trillion, an increase of 12.17% yoy. Beyond being supported by low-cost funds and healthy financing, the company’s solid performance was driven by business in Indonesia and abroad. Since 2022, BSI has operated a branch in Dubai, UAE, marking its initial foray into the global market, particularly in the Middle East. BSI Director of Treasury & International Banking Firman Nugraha stated that the company sees significant business potential in the UAE and Middle East markets. ‘We are optimistic that the business growth of BSI’s Dubai Overseas Branch Office can continue to grow positively this year,’ he said in a written statement on Monday (15/6/2026). Firman added that the Middle East is an international hub, as many Indonesian-related and international companies have representative offices in Dubai. ‘Therefore, BSI’s presence in Dubai is expected to serve as a bridge for financial services and strengthen export-import cooperation with various companies in Indonesia,’ he concluded. As of April 2026, the Dubai branch’s asset growth surged 80% year-on-year, dominated by corporate financing. The branch also facilitates and provides treasury services, trade finance, and documentary collection for exporters and importers conducting transactions between the UAE and Indonesia. Bank Syariah Indonesia is currently preparing to open a branch in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to tap into the halal ecosystem, including the hajj and umrah sectors. As the world’s largest Muslim-majority country, Indonesia contributes significantly to hajj and umrah visits to Saudi Arabia. Each year, Indonesia sends an average of around 203,000 hajj pilgrims, with approximately 170,000, or 83%, being BSI customers. For umrah, data from the Siskopatuh system in 2025 recorded 1.6 million pilgrims nationwide, with 84% using BSI services.
