BSI Appoints MUI Deputy General Chairman as Independent Commissioner

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BSI has restructured the composition of the company’s board of commissioners at the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGMS) for the 2025 Fiscal Year.

BSI President Director Anggoro Eko Cahyo stated that at the 2025 AGMS, the shareholders appointed two new commissioners.

Meanwhile, the composition of the board of directors and the Sharia supervisory board of the company remains unchanged.

“We also convey the eighth agenda item, namely the change in the composition of the company’s Board of Commissioners,” said Anggoro during a press conference on Tuesday night (5/5/2026).

For information, Muhammad Cholil Nafis is the Deputy General Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) for the 2025-2030 period.

Previously, Cholil served as Chairman of the Commission for Da’wah and Community Development (2015-2020) and Chairman of the MUI Central Division for Brotherhood and Da’wah.

This man, born in Sampang, Madura on 1 June 1975, obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Religion from the Az-Ziyadah Higher Institute of Islamic Religion in Jakarta (1996-2000). He then continued his postgraduate studies at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta (2001-2003) and the University of Malaya with a Ph.D. degree (2008-2010).

Meanwhile, Sigit Pramono was appointed by BSI shareholders as a Commissioner, replacing Meidy Ferdiansyah.

Sigit is the Rector of Institut Agama Islam SEBI as well as a lecturer in the Master’s in Economics programme at SEBI.

Sigit earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Indonesia (FEUI), obtained an MSc in Accounting from the Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), and completed his doctoral programme, earning a Ph.D. at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, Beppu, Japan.

“The aforementioned appointments will take effect after passing the OJK’s fit and proper test,” said Anggoro.
