BSI Allocates Rp 194.5 Billion for MBG Kitchens
Support from the banking sector for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme is beginning to materialise on the ground. Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) has allocated financing of Rp 194.5 billion for the construction of 145 kitchens by February 2026. In addition to financing, BSI has also provided 1,520 virtual accounts to support transactions within the programme’s ecosystem. This step forms part of efforts to strengthen the implementation of government programmes in the social and economic sectors. Amid this support, BSI’s performance continues to grow. By February 2026, the company’s financing reached Rp 323 trillion, an increase of 14.32% year-on-year. “The company’s steps to accelerate digitalisation, expand gold business services, strengthen the consumer segment, and support government programmes have proven effective in maintaining a positive and sustainable growth trend in performance,” said BSI Corporate Secretary Wisnu Sunandar in a statement quoted on Monday (30/3/2026). By February 2026, BSI’s financing reached Rp 323 trillion, growing 14.32% year-on-year. This growth was supported by the consumer segment, including the gold business, as well as retail and MSME financing amounting to Rp 52.43 trillion. The gold business or bullion bank has become one of the main drivers. Since obtaining permission, this service has shown significant growth, with gold holdings reaching around 22.5 tonnes and a continuously increasing customer base. On the other hand, BSI recorded a profit of Rp 1.36 trillion, an increase of around 17%. Third-party funds also rose to Rp 366 trillion, driven by growth in public savings. In addition to the MBG programme, BSI has allocated sharia KUR financing of Rp 1.65 trillion and subsidised housing financing through the FLPP programme for 582 units. Digital service expansion continues. By February 2026, users of the BYOND by BSI app reached 6.3 million, with a total of 125.4 million transactions.
