Tangerang (ANTARA) - PT Bumi Serpong Damai and PT ASIX Indonesia Cerdas have forged a strategic partnership in technological innovation, research, and development of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics, positioning BSD City in Serpong, Tangerang, as an academy for artificial intelligence and robotics.

CEO of Digital Tech Ecosystem and Development at Sinar Mas Land, Irawan Harahap, stated in Tangerang on Monday that this collaboration marks a concrete step in transforming BSD City into a future-oriented township that excels not only in physical infrastructure but also serves as the epicentre of technological innovation in Indonesia.

Through this partnership, BSD City opens wider doors for innovators, researchers, and technology industry players to collaboratively build a sustainable technology ecosystem.

“We are proud to be part of ASIX’s journey in bringing world-class AI and robotics capabilities to Indonesia. This aligns with our commitment to position BSD City as a centre for research and artificial intelligence (AI) through our new initiative, mBrace or Make BSD Research and AI Centre of Excellence,” said Irawan Harahap.

It is noteworthy that the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), particularly in its Technology and Innovation Report 2025, reports that the size of the frontier technology market, such as AI and robotics, is projected to increase sixfold, from US$2.5 trillion in 2023 to US$16.4 trillion in 2033.

“This R&D centre will serve as an innovation laboratory and technology incubator, implementing Proof of Concept (POC) programmes to test solutions before widespread implementation, hosting product showcases, and developing an AI and Robotics Academy,” he stated.

Andrie Tjioe, CEO and President Director of PT ASIX Indonesia Cerdas, expressed enthusiasm for this collaboration, noting that BSD City is not merely a physical location but also the right ecosystem partner to realise ASIX’s vision of developing an R&D centre and establishing an AI and Robotics Academy as a breeding ground for Indonesia’s new generation of digital talent.

“We bring technological strengths from the China Mobile ecosystem, which has been proven globally, combined with a deep understanding of Indonesia’s industrial landscape through Sinar Mas,” he said.

“This step is concrete proof that the robotic solutions developed by ASIX are not merely conceptual but ready for direct implementation to meet the operational needs of modern areas,” he added.

Marlo Budiman, CEO of PT DSST Mas Gemilang, stated that the establishment of this research centre is a tangible implementation of the company’s diversification strategy towards future technology sectors.

ASIX’s strategic step is designed to create strategic alignment across all business lines, particularly in integrating artificial intelligence solutions with existing digital infrastructure assets.

“By strengthening this technology pillar, the company aims to build a more resilient and adaptive operational foundation to meet the needs of industrial digital transformation in the future,” he said.

Located in D-HUB SEZ BSD City, the Technology Innovation Research Centre and Artificial Intelligence & Robotics Academy is connected to modern commercial hubs such as The Breeze, Green Office Park, BSD CBD, AEON Mall BSD City, QBig, and ICE BSD. Additionally, the area is surrounded by international educational facilities including Monash University, Universitas Prasetiya Mulya, IPEKA BSD, Jakarta Nanyang School, and Sinarmas World Academy.

The development of this city is supported by various technology-based infrastructure and solutions, such as high-capacity fibre optic networks, implementation of the Internet of Things (IoT), digital-based area security and monitoring systems, and the development of data-based city services that enhance mobility efficiency, security, and community comfort.

Through the development of digital infrastructure, high-speed connectivity, and collaboration with various global technology companies, BSD City continues to strengthen its position as one of Indonesia’s centres for innovation and digital economic growth.

D-HUB SEZ in BSD City is integrated with various toll road networks, including the Serpong-Balaraja Toll (Serbaraja) Sections 1A & 1B, Jakarta-Serpong Toll integrated with JORR 1, JORR 2 (Soekarno Hatta Airport - Kunciran - Serpong - Cinere - Cimanggis - Cibitung - Cilincing), Japek Toll, and Jagorawi Toll.

Mobility to and from D-HUB SEZ, BSD City, is also supported by various public transportation options, from BSD Link buses, BSD City feeder buses, to KRL Commuter Line via Cisauk Station in the BSD City Intermoda area and Jatake Station in the Hiera area.
