BSA Logistics Indonesia Integrates CSR into Business Ethics

Jakarta — Present at the TOP CSR Awards 2026 judging session, PT BSA Logistics Indonesia reaffirmed its position as an integrated logistics company that continues to strengthen its strategic role in the national supply chain. With operational reach spread across various regions of Indonesia, the company not only focuses on business excellence but also places social responsibility as an integral part of business sustainability. Head of Human Capital & General Affairs at PT BSA Logistics Indonesia, Benny Yuliman, explained that the company embraces a vision to become Indonesia’s leading integrated logistics service provider. “We have a vision to become Indonesia’s leading integrated logistics service provider. The key word is integrated; we combine various logistics services and aim to be at the forefront in Indonesia,” he stated before the TOP CSR Awards 2026 judging panel, including Mellani K. Harriman (Melani K. Harriman & Associates), Thendri Supriatno (Independent Investor Society), Syaifudin (LKN), and Ummu Azizah Mukarnawati (LKN/CSR Commission), on Thursday (2/4/2026). According to Benny, the meaning of “leading” does not only refer to business scale but also to mastery of technology and quality of human resources. “The meaning of leading here is mastery of technology with operations carried out by selected, trained, and professional workers,” he said. As a company operating in the multimodal logistics sector, PT BSA Logistics Indonesia provides various services, from transportation, freight forwarding, warehousing, storage, to loading and unloading services. These activities are spread across several strategic regions such as Jakarta, Semarang, Surabaya, Makassar, Lampung, Palembang, Pekanbaru, Dumai, Belawan, to Siak. Benny added that all these activities are carried out with principles of consistency and transparency. “The mission is to drive consistency and transparency throughout Indonesia’s supply chain by leveraging technology, operational excellence, and continuous improvement,” he revealed. CSR as Part of Business Ethics In its operations, PT BSA Logistics Indonesia is guided by a Code of Conduct (CoC) that regulates company behaviour, including aspects of anti-corruption, transparency, and business ethics. Within it, CSR becomes an important part that must be carried out by all elements of the company. “For the corporate social responsibility point, it falls under business ethics. So, this is a basic rule that must be followed by all employees,” Benny clarified. The company also emphasises a “tone from the top” approach, where company leadership sets a direct example in implementing social programmes. One of them is the tree-planting activity that has been conducted since 2004 in the Sungai Baung area, Ogan Komering Ilir, South Sumatra, as well as assistance to orphans and the underprivileged in various operational areas. BSA Logistics Indonesia develops CSR through three main pillars: social, environmental, and economic. “The first is the social pillar, welfare of employees and surrounding communities. The second is the environmental pillar, environmental protection and reduction of the company’s operational impact. And the third is the economic pillar, business sustainability and economic contributions to the company and all stakeholders,” said Benny. Furthermore, Benny emphasised that these three pillars are implemented sustainably and measurably. CSR is also viewed as a long-term investment for the company. “CSR programmes are an investment for business growth and sustainability,” he stated. In addition, CSR serves to support the implementation of Good Corporate Governance (GCG), minimise social risks, and enhance the company’s image in society. This is important given the intensity of the company’s operations, including the use of a large number of logistics fleets in various regions. Adoption of ISO 26000 Commitment to social responsibility is strengthened through the adoption of ISO 26000 standards. The company integrates seven core subjects into its operations, from organisational governance to community development. In terms of governance, the company ensures that policies related to quality, health, safety, environment (QHSE) and Code of Conduct are effectively implemented. Meanwhile, in terms of human rights, the company guarantees freedom of association for employees. In the labour sector, the company runs occupational health and safety (K3) programmes as well as continuous training and human resource development. “Providing K3 programmes and training to create safe work and enhance employee competence,” Benny explained. On the environmental aspect, the company applies the green operation concept through energy efficiency and waste management. One of its initiatives is the use of electric heavy equipment as well as the utilisation of solar panels in warehouse areas. In addition, the company also implements fair operational practices through anti-corruption policies and a whistleblowing system, as well as providing transparent mechanisms for handling customer complaints.
