Brutal Robbery in Pelalawan: Company Cashier Stabbed Repeatedly
A brutal robbery occurred at a company in Pelalawan Regency, Riau. The victim, a woman who was the company cashier with the initials PT (25), was stabbed repeatedly until she was covered in blood.
The incident took place at the company office on Jalan Lintas Timur Km 43, Kiyap Jaya Village, Bandar Sei Kijang District, Pelalawan Regency, on Wednesday afternoon (17/6). Initially, the perpetrator, named Jodi, came to the location to survey the situation.
“At 14.00 WIB, the perpetrator arrived to observe the situation. After realising the victim was alone, the perpetrator pretended to ask to use the toilet and stole a pair of scissors with a yellow handle from an outside table to use as a weapon,” said Pelalawan Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Bayu Ramadhan Effendi in his statement on Friday (19/6/2026).
About two hours later, precisely at 16.50 WIB, the perpetrator returned to the office, whose door was open. The perpetrator immediately threatened and brandished the scissors, forcing the victim to hand over the safe key.
“However, the victim refused and screamed for help, so the suspect committed violence against the victim by choking her, throwing her to the floor, stepping on her head, kicking her, and stabbing her repeatedly with the scissors until the scissors bent and injured the suspect’s fingers,” he explained.
Not only that, the suspect also struck the victim with an electric fan. In a blind rage, the perpetrator then grabbed a screwdriver from the cashier’s desk and stabbed the victim multiple times until she was covered in blood.
“The victim was in a weakened state at that time, then the suspect demanded the victim hand over the key to the safe where the money was stored,” he added.
After successfully seizing the safe key, the perpetrator made off with approximately Rp 76 million in cash from the safe. Before fleeing, the perpetrator washed his injured hands in the toilet, then damaged the front terrace CCTV camera with a stone.
The Pelalawan Police Criminal Investigation Unit team, upon receiving the information, immediately went to the crime scene. The perpetrator, named Joni, who is an honorary staff member at a primary school in Pelalawan, was eventually arrested.
“We arrested the suspect Jodi Alfandi while he was travelling from Pekanbaru to Bandar Seikijang on Thursday (18/6) at around 03.30 WIB,” he said.
Currently, the suspect and a number of pieces of evidence are in police custody. The police are still conducting further examinations of the suspect.
